I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this satin glass vase which has a pressed mark "CZECHOSLOVAKIA" on the base in a semi-circle almost all the way around the base? I am sorry that the photo of the base doesn't do the mark justice as it is only lightly impressed. If anyone would like more pics, let me know. Thanks for all the info.

Thanks, Czechman. That's what I was thinking - and the couple of people I have asked... With all of these things you hope for something to come up sometime!

Beautiful. How frustrating to be marked Czechoslovakia and still not know who made it. Glass is a fascinating subject for that fact alone. I see you have some unknown English glass, I've found thats just as hard to attribute. Stourbridge (an area with many glass houses) is the best I've been able to get with a few pieces, and they could be wrong, lol

Very true, Fran, I have found the debates on Collectors Weekly and http://www.glassmessages.com invaluable (although they can get quite heated, as you have seen!). People are very, very passionate about their subject! Some work more with the heart and others with the head in identifying things.
There is a great desire on the part of everyone - including me - to move the "unknowns" into a known maker or house. Accepting that some may never be identified other than an acceptance that they are Czech/Bohemian. :-)

Very wise remarks Ian. Sometimes we just don't know, where would we be without a little mystery in our lives! Regards William.
