This was my last great find for the day. A super nice vintage TV lamp from the 50's.It's roughly 12" tall and 12" long. Back in the day it was thought that watching TV in the dark would ruin your eyes. So they created these to cast a nice soft glow on top of the TV consoles. There are as many styles of these as you can imagine and hundreds of pottery companies produced these through the 40's, 50's and 60's. Bulls and Matadors were popular along with jungle animals, birds, shells and tikis. My grandmother had a black panther on her set. Not sure if it lit up but some did. Made by Haeger and other well known companies. This one has no mark of any kind and has the felt torn off the bottom. Obviously someone was looking. A few rough spots but nothings broken or chipped. The one online like this I did find is painted differently. It has a bright red cape and a bit more colorful accents. I happen to like the muted colors. They have a bit more class. -Mike-
Thanks Phil :) Maybe you could find out who made this ? There are no marks that I can see. There is a site online and the list of companies is huge ! -Mike-
