So I found this postcard at a local auction for an estate the post card says:
1905 souvenir... Lewis & Clark Exposition
    portland oregon
    1905

oregon pinewood Industrial and Liberal arts palace
See that your grocer gives you the western baking company's crackers, cakes, bisuites
factory: east third and east davis streets, portland oregon
manufactured by mann and beach, 92 second st, portland

now the post card is made out of actual pine wood, about a millimeter thick. i think its a great find

Not sure what the mystery is on this piece-- you have all the information.

It is a souvenir postcard from the 1905 Lewis and Clark Exposition. As a leader in the timber industry, it was natural to have wood souvenir items from an OR Exposition.

While this postcard seems to have been collected purely as a souvenir (with the persons name and date), these could have been sent through the mail system.

At this time period leather postcards were popular souvenir items as well.

Thanks for sharing, it brings back fond memories of my two years living in OR. The lumber industry was and still is an integral part of many folks daily life in OR.

      scott
