I thought I would share another find of mine. This is a circa 1918 Pittsburg-Bungalow Automatic Gas Water Heater. There were actually two of these, as usual, sitting out rusting away. I really like the look of these, the ornamental cast iron with the lions head. This would really look great sand blasted, re-painted, and sitting on my porch.
These are not particularly rare, but they have a great look to them. They are supposed to sit on a cast iron base, which appears to be missing.
Great old photo of water heater . Don't fire it up pack :-) Love it as I always love your photo's !
wonder if they stop using them cause they leaked and blew up ...lol

For those of you who think this would blow up, we recently replace our 1918 Pittsburg water heater. It was original to our 1913 house and was replaced 2 years ago. So it worked for just shy of 95 years and was still working. We replaced it because the water got too hot and we have young kids, not because it broke. It is sitting in my garage in excellent condition, waiting for me to figure out what to do with it!
