1 1/2 inch jug, salesmen sample?

I cant remember when I picked this up but I think I paid a dime for it. I thought it was cute and I'm a sucker for smalls. I think its some kind of a sample as the bottom reads GAL which I assume means gallon, any one have any ideas? Thanks and happy hunting!
