Myrtle is named Myrtle as she is like a turtle who takes her house with her. Myrtle is a 1964 Dodge Travco 270 motorhome. She is a rare two door model and is 27 feet long with a fibreglass shell. She is equipped with a 318 poly engine. We bought her in 2008 in Bozeman, MT, and imported her back to our home in Canada. When we got her she needed some TLC. We put in a lot of work to refurbish the interior and mechanical while still keeping her mid-century aesthetic and original equipment. Some highlights of the exterior work; we replaced her damaged windshields, chromed her bumpers, put on new side mirrors, replaced some missing compartment doors and buffed and polished her original turquoise gelcoat fibreglass back to a lovely lustre.

The interior was a much bigger project. Her dinette was missing so instead we opted to install a vintage red vinyl couch that folds down into a bed. The brown and gold cushions are her original couch and are placed on a newly built bench. The front seats were very damaged and we replaced them with seats from a wrecked contemporary RV, but first we had them recovered in gold and copper vinyl. Due to water damage, ee replaced her ceiling and some of the wood walls. We then we stripped the original intact walls and stained them all to match. Miraculously Myrtle retained all of her wonderful original fibreglass light shades, appliances, and counters. We have outfitted Myrtle with vintage linens, curtains, pots, kitchenware, decorations and camping equipment. We enjoy taking Myrtle out 'glamping' and she turns heads where ever she goes!
