    NIPPON MORIAGE & BEADED WARE

I got this at a yard sale for a dollar while in college 1982 or 83 in Wichita Falls, TX. I thought it was cool and it has traveled with me ever since.

Japanese vase or Potpourri probably from the Kaga region late 19th early 20th century . Very nice .

Looks like possibly a salt or sugar spice shaker something of that sort but it is done in Moriage hand painting that should give you something to start with in the pottery research. http://www.ebay.com/gds/NIPPON-PORCELAIN-A-GUIDE-TO-MORIAGE-BEADED-WARE-/10000000001393277/g.html

I love it, but I would add it could be a Hat Pin Holder. Similar on ebay that I am following.

I just came across something that I didn't know so I learned something too. I am pretty sure your piece is a moriage flower frog used to display stemmed flowers. The hole on the bottom would be the water entrance from the bowl it would sit in. Hope that helps.
