This is a great looking Southern Calendar Clock Co. Fashion No. 1 with the large Seth Thomas 8-day movement. You will find (primarily) the Seth Thomas movement in the Southern Calendar clocks. I feel fortunate to have found and 'fought for' this clock at a San Francisco estate sale. I say that only because another patron couldn't get to it fast enough but still tried to claim it from me. The only part missing from the case were the finials. No surprise there as they are either missing 1 or more of the finials or the tips broken off. I am pleased with the reproduction finials that my clock man provided for me - they are a terrific match. The interior label on the door partially reads, "This clock and calendar is now set at 1:00 o'clock in the morning August 1, 1877. Both dials have their original paint with minimal flaking. The calendar day roller/paper is very readable, whereas the month roller is readable but very dark. Clock maintains exceptional time and the calendar functions just as it should. Overall height is 32" by 16" width and weighs in at a hefty 14 pounds.
Fantastic!
So glad you like clock, or I hope you like the clock :)
I love it!
Very Nice timepiece, great piece to have, glad you won out on the sale. Welcome to the CW forum. Love seeing this. Again pops summed it up in one word "Fantastic"
Thank you for a very warm welcome... this is a great site and I'm having a lot fun viewing items that I find of great interest, which happen to be anything that ticks and/or maintains time. I wasn't so sure I should be here when I received a very odd comment from someone on an old parlor rocker that I have. Anyway, I will post some fun timekeepers and enjoy viewing other collectors' marvelous pieces!
Looking forward to your future posts.
Will be looking forward to your treasures, I collect nice timepieces also, but have just a few of my "Character" timepieces posted. At one time I had over 800 pieces posted and cleaned the page, oops. But I've been posting a couple of the lower end pieces , but will post "Finer" pieces again soon, will hopefully soon
Very nice clock.. Thanks for sharing!
