The Hubster and I have collected a Hess truck for every year that our lil man has been in this world. He gets two every year for Christmas. One to play with, the other to put up into the collection, unused and unopened. We've also saved the original bags and batteries that came with the toys.
Aim - make sure you remove the "button" batteries from the small accessories (i.e. cars, motorcycles, chopper, dune buggies) - these will corrode and ruin them.
Thank you very much agh, the batteries actually come in a desperate Energizer 2-pk box.
Thanks for the love xo...

The "C" batteries are always given separate but the "button" batteries (watch batteries) are installed in the smaller vehicles. - The truck has to be completely removed from the box to get to these.
Oooh, I didn't realize they also have watch batteries in them. Truly appreciate the information agh xo. I wonder though... if I remove them if they will no longer be considered New.
Anyone that collects Hess trucks would know - it is still considered new and some buyers even ask if the "button" batteries have been removed. (leave the little plastic strip) - they would rather have the batteries removed because they usually start corroding within 5 years of storage. - also, no point in trying to keep them separate because they will eventually corrode anyway - use them as replacements for the one's you let your son play with. - only the trucks with accessory vehicles have these "buttons" so the others you don't need to open.
Thanks so much agh. I would have never thought to do that. I'll get the hubster top take a look at them, and see if he can find them and get them out.
The battery door is usually on the bottom of the toy held closed by a small phillips screw. Take out the battery but leave the little plastic strip. Repackage exactly the same as it was with all the cardboard inserts. I have the trucks from 1988-2010 but did not keep the bags or the "C" batteries. - They made so many of these that the collector price rarely exceeds $40 each. The market was over-saturated.
Thanks for the love xo...
