Really delightful single weight miniature serpentine Vienna regulator that I guestimate will date to 1860-1870. I found this clock laying in the bottom of a cardboard box at a local dealer 'warehouse sale' in Berkeley about 6 months ago. The little sticker attached to the clock read $60. I've only 'lucked' out a couple of times in my clock collecting quests, and this was one of 'em. Unsigned movement is in need of cleaning, but regardless of that fact, it's still keeping exceptional time. I have seen (miniature) regulators with the 2 day movements and a few with 8 day movements, but this one seems to be an oddball in that it maintains time for 6 days. Anyone out there heard of this before? The 3 1/2" porcelain dial is flawless and with the brass bezel, measures 4" diameter. The cylinder brass weight shows some little patches of soldering. Not so sure if the old bottom finial is original or should even be there? But everything else about this little guy is all original. Overall height is 32"; mid section 6 1/4" wide; top 9 1/4" wide; depth is 4".
very nice............
Sweet indeed! Really a beautiful old clock!
