General electric toaster 16T142. I wonder from which year it is. Looks 80's to me. Can someone precise the date?

I found this toaster in a junk shop. I just loved the look. I have found the model number on the internet: General Electric 16T142 apparently.

I just bought this model on Ebay. I too, am curious about the year. I think it is early 1970's. No facts to back up that hunch. But, I do think the dial and the numbers around the dial, as well as the General Electric placard, look older than the 1980's to me. I will go with 1969-1972 as my w.a.g.

Also, the cord looks older than the 80's. The original plug as well.

I can find an advertisement for this that goes back as far as 1966

Thanks, aghcollect ! Makes me feel even better. I was in need of a replacement toaster, but cannot bring myself to buy one more chinese-made appliance. I got this American made beauty for cheap, and it works great ! Thanks.

My wife received this in 1968 as a wedding gift. Still works great!

....Don't they have the date on the bottom somewhere? Or on the Silver label on the bottom??

Your beautiful GE toaster is a movie star! It is prominently featured in a key scene in the 1968 movie "Rosemary's Baby". Rosemary glimpses her reflection in the mirror-like chrome surface as she compulsively eats raw chicken liver.
