I need some help from my fellow collectors. The photo shows one trio of a set I have. I believe the size of the cup is called demi cup. The problem is that the set is incomplete. It has been in my family since the 1960’s, as far as I know.
If I remember correctly, it belonged to a cousin of my dad who left East Germany in the early 1960’s to settle in West Germany. Because this was considered illegal by the government of East Germany, he and his family had to make the move in secret. Needless to say that they could not hire a moving van to take their belongings with them. Anything that had a bit of a value was given to my grandmother for safe-keeping, in the hope that it could be retrieved some when. But this day never came. Everything else was abandoned. (Funny how history repeats itself: I went through the same in the mid-eighties when I wanted to leave the East. I lost most of my antique collection, only I was forced by the East German government to do so.) But back to the story:
My mom used to bring me a few pieces every year when she came to visit me in Canada. First a few plates, then a few cups, then the creamer and the sugar bowl… Finally, last summer, after waiting for some years, she was going to make the last delivery: the coffee pot. I have been anticipating this moment patiently for so long! The only problem was that she was so excited to pack everything that she dropped it on the kitchen floor in her apartment! So this day never came either.
I am looking now for a replacement pot for my set. I have seen some sets made from the same molds but with a different pattern. Most of the ones I found are cobalt blue.
Does anyone know the name of this pattern so I can search for the pot? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for looking:)
Very, very lovely xo
Such a story behind this set!
Have you been on replacements.com?
No, walksoftly, I have not. The problem is that I am not very patient. There are so many names and I don't know where to start:(
I bet he posts a direct link for you ;-)
Also many thanks to vetraio50, aghcollect, Aimathena, SEAN68, and walksoftly:)
Heartbreaking and heartwarming story xoxo I sincerely hope you finally get that tea pot. All the best to you!!
The scalloped shape with the fine gold pinstripe seems to be very common, I wonder if it is from the Katharina series?

You set dates prior to 1948.

walksoftly, thanks so much for your help! I checked out the two links and I think I am now one step closer to finding the missing pot. You really brightened my day!
You're most welcome freiheit, it brightens my day to know that I brightened your day. Good luck on your quest, I hope it proves fruitful.
Is this a demitasse (coffee) cup? So sorry to hear about the loss of the pot! How wonderful that walksoftly was able to help. : )
miKKoChristmas11, yes, it is a demitasse. I am really glad walksoftly pointed me in the correct direction.
Also many thanks to all CW members showing their love or being patient enough to read my little story.
Could you post a picture of the plate standing upright so that we can see the shape & pattern in full detail?
Walksoftly, I postes a few more photos. I hope to show the shape better.
