Nothing much today, everything looks so empty no matter where you go. I did find this however at our GW. It's a Fenton piece in perfect condition from their "Olde Virginia Glass" line. It doesn't have the typical oval Fenton mark. Instead it has OVG marked on the bottom. Wasn't sure what maker it was until I looked online. I know Fenton but had not seen this mark before. Produced around the 60's and 70's the pattern is called "Water Lily". This one is in an Emerald green color but there are several others. The 6" shape is called a "cupped" comport because of the turned up edges. Not too many images online of this shape, but there is one on live auctioneer's site for sale with another larger piece. -Mike-

Beautiful!!! xoxoxo
Thanks Jay :).... Even on the off days I manage to find something to bring home and research. I thought the piece was nice but the "OVG" mark was what really motivated me to buy it. Love a mystery ! -Mike-
Mike, you sure have given me something to research through my 21 Fenton books! I have never seen this Fenton Water Lily Comport in transparent Emerald Green. In 2008 Fenton made it for QVC that was called Emerald Green Marigold (which was an iridized treatment to make it look like Carnival).

In 1970, Fenton added the OVG to the moulds used for their Olde Virginia Glass line. Fenton stopped making the OVG line in 1979. However, in 1982 they used this mould (along with others) and made this comport in Ruby, Green and Milk (white) for A. L. Randall Company, which was a wholesaler to the florist trade. There is an ad on Page 421 of Fenton Glass Made for Other Companies Volume II 1970-2005 by Carrie and Gerald Domitz.
Your comport is also shown here on liveauctioneers.com.

Thanks for the challenge. It is a very pretty piece. Congratulations on a nice find!
Also, here is an example of the OVG mark on the Doty site:

Thank you Parkerhouse...... Yes this pattern and the cupped shape only seem to show up in a few rose bowls without the pedestal bases. This green color appears to be rare as the "rose bowls" I've seen are opaque colors like blue. There are a few clear and frosted "comports " (so it's not a miss spelled "compote" I see) on Ebay though. I'm not that great with ID' ing glass but if it has a mark I enjoy tracking it down to see who made it. When I think of Fenton I always think of the top hats and lady's slippers like my grandmother had. I know they made much more...lol but those are stuck in my head. -Mike-
