This is one of two electric clocks that live in my apartment... I purchased this particular clock probably 10 years ago as a gift for my brother. He was an airplane freak! It was produced by the New Jersey Clock Company ca. 1930-1932. It has a Hammond "spin-start" movement.. spin the airplane's propeller blades to start the time keeping and the propeller continues to turn just like a seconds hand on a clock. Spin the blades backward and the clock keeps time in reverse. The little scene on the front could be attributable to Admiral Byrd's Antarctic expedition 1928-1930 or possibly his flight over the North Pole? The case is in A+ condition.
Every so often, this model shows up on Ebay and 99% of the time it's non-working or the case is chipped/abused. Also, the case is not Bakelite contrary to what they say when it's up for auction! If you ever want to buy a clock where the cord has been cut, be prepared to not only replace the cord, but repair or REPLACE the movement. See my next posting...
I enjoyed sharing this cute clock with everyone and thank you in return for the loves!
Just picked one of these up. Working condition but sketchy cord.
