I bought this a few months ago and it's grown on me quite a bit. I guess it would be called a chest of drawers or spice cabinet. It has very detailed inlay of mother-of-pearl and carved lizards or salamanders throughout. I'm not sure what kind of wood it is or what the age is of the piece either. It was very dirty when i got it, but i've cleaned it up w/ a moist rag. I've seen work somewhat like this in Guatemala as well, so i have no idea where it's from. If i had to bet, i'd guess Indonesian.
I really love this! What are the dimensions? I would say also Indonesia. I was in Guatemala many times and the lizard looks ok but mother of pearl, not so much! Anyway, it is special! How tall and width? Lucky you to acquire this!! Again I love it!
thanks Toracat! it's 17" tall x 9" wide x 6.5" deep. i agree that it doesn't look guatemalan, and i do think it's probably indonesian.
