I purchased this as an accessory to my 1853 Enfield rifle musket, because my musket was Indian manufactured and this bayonet had been marked with Hindi script at the base of the blade along the side. It seems to also have some sort of marking at the base of the blade where I’d expect to find British markings, but they are too faint to be certain.

The bayonet blade is 17 ½ inch (44.45 cm) and is about ¾ inch wide at the base. The Scabbard was purchased at a different auction, and has the “broad arrow” British War Department stamp on the leather beneath the frog stud.

Right eh. F---kin right eh! Are you a Canuck? I pick up accents fairly quickly & was in the States with a Canadian friend along the border & came out of a curb store laughing about the clerk accusing me of being a Canuck because I said bag in stead of sack or vice versa. My Canadienne friend said. "What do you mean by 'being accused'?" Sometimes better to keep your mouth shut!

That's my mom's side of the family showing. I have kin both north and south of the border. I was born and raised in the Northwestern US, and frankly I feel more at home in British Columbia or Alberta than I do when visiting back East.
