Gerhard Liebenthron, Bremen
*1925 †2005
a vase from 1967 signed GL67 and an early G. Liebenthron wallplaque from 1957 marked GL 57
from 1945-1951 he studied at the Staatliche Kunstschule Bremen (school of arts) in the pottery class of Else Krieg & Dorothea Colberg-Tjadens. in 1951 Liebenthron has been the Assistent of the scultpor Prof. Goersemann there.
after Liebenthron finished his time at the Kunstschule he opened his own workshop in the Boettcherstraße, Bremen (in 1952)
he made lot's of different things over the years. His standard stuff isn't that rare, but there are pieces which are highly thought after.
Gerhard Liebenthron's work can be found in several museums in Germany. the Keramik Museum in Berlin, the Fockemuseum in Bremen and the Hetiens Museum in Düsseldorf for example. He has been a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Kunsthandwerk Bremen.
Lit: Keramik Gerhard Liebenthron, Gerhard Liebenthron und Fockemuseum Bremen, Bremen 1968.
