Ok, all you glass and Mid Century folks, I need your help (are you listening AmberRose?) I don't really know what this is or when it's from, just some guesses. First, I apologize for the photographs, the thing is devilish hard to take pics of! This cobalt glass piece is 7 1/2 " tall, with a 3/4" deep hole in one end, and a dimple in the other. It's 3/4 round, and the flat side has cuts as you can see in pic 2. The mark seems to be Rosenthal (Pic 3) but I cannot seem to find anything like this out there in my web search. Has any of you smart folks seen one of these before? Thanks!!!
stunning il have to look this up
This one is vintage :)
1960's......
I think your right icollectglass!!
The hole is only 3/4" deep, not enough for a vase. I can't think what else it could be but a candlestick...
I meant to have have said the hole was 3/4" deep in the original post. Oops!!!!
Yes, icollect. One end has a dimple, and the other end has a 3/4" deep x 3/4" wide hole. When I hold the piece up to the light, the hole is tapered at the bottom, like it was drilled. It's quite heavy too, at least a pound.
You should try TAKING them, icollect! The light refracts off the cuts, and off the round body, then it won't get down in the hole!
Yes, icollect, it will stand on either end, but I assume, it should be on the end with the dimple, not the hole. I didn't take any pics like that because of the light in the room
LOL I had 3 halogen lights on it , plus the room lights as it was!
Loooovely colour!...:-)
Thanks, Inky!
It's hard to take pics of transparent objects. I realize the mark is fuzzy, sorry!
That's the way it looks. If I get a day where it's not snowing, I might get some outside.
upstatenycollector hangs his head and heads for the penalty box...
lol!....:-))))
This reminds me of glass rolling pins, though I've never seen one with a cut design (they are generally entirely smooth). However, glass pins were made hollow with a cork on one end so you could fill them with cold water/ice and the dough wouldn't stick to the pin....just a thought. :)
Thanks Hunter. We have one of the rolling pins, it's very different. I' have to get some better pictures up!
Thanks for the loves, everyone!
Looks like Rosenthal...but what the heck is it? Thinking earlier. Hmmmm....let me sniff around. Sorry I didn't see this before, my brain is frozen with no thaw in sight.
Okay maybe reichenbach.
I knew you'd have a clue Amber. I sure didn't! I still think it's a candle holder
Still trying to figure this out. I am back to Rosenthal. The date marks early 60s and upward. But what is it?

I'd like to think that but so far I can't find another. Plus I think the "divot" seems really shallow.
Whoops there it is! Good job I collect!
Ok, so I messed up. Please see the 2 new pictures... Oops!!!! And thanks, Icollect!!!!
And thanks to everyone who worked on this! Those are indeed the ones.
Thanks again, Icollect!
By gosh, eye4, I think you nailed it! Thanks!!!!
This is one of a set of four Rosenthal Advent Candlestick holders from the mid 1960's. The other three are in different shades of blue. The one in your picture is the darkest. If your interested in a picture of all four let me know I have them.
Seva, if you have those pics I'd like to see them. Thanks!
