Trying to learn about this rocking chair we've store in our garage for over 25+ years. It was picked up at a second hand store and I intended to redo the seat (which is falling apart from the bottom) but have never got around to it. It is a very sturdy rocking chair of solid wood with the ecception of the seat. It has nice claw type feet on the front. I would like to get it reupholstered and actually use the rocking chair...but am curious what dates it is from or anything about it. We know nothing at all so any feedback would be great! Thank you.
Size: 34' to top of back, 31" wide to edge of arms and fabric area of seat is approximatel 20" deep by 23" wide.
Empire style Barrel back. 1900 to 1920.
Thank you for the info....I have never seen another chair like it and I tried to find one on the internet with no luck....Do you know if is it a common rocking chair style from that period or unusual?
Common Design.
Okay, thank you...good to know. It is very comfortable so we are finally going to have the seat repaired and put it to use in our home!
