purchased this item (along with a similar one without a pencil) at an estate sale. It measures 2 3/4" x 1 3/4".
Trying to identify what it was used for/time period.

By the size of it.. it may have come off a chatelaine... any hall marks or marks of any kind on it?...:-)
No hallsmarks/marks at all. Very frustrating. I haven't tested it for gold/silver but given there are no hallmarks I'm thinking it's neither.
Yes!..most frustrating..a nice thing though!.. I love a mystery but! the problem of not having a a mark of any kind it could have been made by so many.. anywhere!.. hopefully someone will recognize the style or just trawl eBay looking for similar items!...good luck!...welcome to CW by the way!...:-)
Thanks !
I have a quite similar item! And I suppose it was used as dancing cards hanging from a chatelaine or a small notepad used by a gentleman hanging from his watch chain. Probably its around the early 20th century...
Any idea what it's worth ?
