My family purchased this painting around 1995. I do not know much about the artist or the painting it self. There is one awesome fact about this painting... On the lower left side of the painting, check the cactuses reflections.... One of the reflections is incorrect!

I don't even think an art critic would have caught that! Too much time on your hands or some really good smoke! LOL. That comment of yours could make this a "runner". Welcome to CW Mon.

lol not only that but they left out the middle one which should show up as well
..but theres no reflection...newbie painter ... but that just makes that much cooler ,,, ;-)))

Back on the court with Windwalker. I noticed that also but discounted the relevance because of the 2 little sand-bars. Doesn't have to be a "newbie" to make a mistake. Bon nuit.

You would think it was a newbie wouldn't you... but I have actually found a lot of this artists paintings on ebay selling from $300 all the way up to $1300.00. It is an amazing piece of art that is for sure!

      Blunderbuss2,

I too dismissed a few of the mistakes and thought that maybe they were made on purpose in order to draw in his audience.... whether it was done by mistake or on purpose this painting draws you in and you catch yourself getting lost in its beauty.

Lee Reynolds owned a company called Vanguard Studios, where staff artists reproduced his paintings. - The fact is almost 100% of ALL signed “Lee Reynolds” paintings were painted by staff artists. All artworks originating at Vanguard Studios were sold as decorative objects. None was intended to be a collector work, although many do now collect Vanguard art.

Just studying this has brought my blood pressure down to ---- OH, my God. Call 9-1-1!! You're a newbie so don't know my sick humour yet. I really like this, though I don't know the artist. If you got this at a reasonable price, you should be happy. You say that you have more on this artist, so share. I don't show a great interest for many things on CW now days.

No I don not know much about the artist I have just seen many of his paintings listed on ebay...

      aghcollect,

How does one find out if this was a staff painted painting or created by the artist himself?

SFisher - google "Lee Reynolds painter" - I believe he has his own website. The sight I looked at said he did not sign his own paintings, that anything with a "Lee Reynolds" or a "Lee Burr" signature were actually copies of his works done by staff artists at his Vanguard Studios. - However, being a Vanguard Studio painting does not make it worthless, if you check ebay, some of them are listed in the thousands of dollars, one I saw listed for a half million! Yours is numbered which may be a way to find out the actual artist from the studio.

Nobody seems to want to mention that, if you sold it for 1/2 mil.$, after Ebay fees, PayPal, taxes etc., you will be lucky to have enough left to pay the insured postage to deliver it. Everybody seems to make a buck but you!

This is a Student painter, Lee Reynolds aka Lee Burr. He would allow students to sign his name back in the day, Lee signed his Lee Burr and You will not find very many that He did himself. I see people asking 300.00 on ebay but by not knowing these are student paintings and not Lee's personal paintings they have over priced. I find these paintings all over town for 50.00 or less. Mostly find at thrift stores for 20.00 and under. I have 3 in my garage!! lol
