Long story to go with this piece. I was hanging around the local swap shop when an older lady arrived with several liquor boxes full of miscellaneous items. This "brass ashtray" came out of one of the boxes. She was saying that her brother(who had recently passed away)was a priest and had had spent time in china when he was much younger. I grabbed this item because of its weight (approx. 1 1/2 lbs) it is 1 1/4" high and 3.5" in diameter. Turns out it is cast bronze, not brass. The mark cast into the bottom is a xuande mark, but may or a may not be authentic. that this item spent many years as an ashtray, but is actually an incense burner.
Any help with authentication would be greatly appreciated!

Really nice find. The form and color look authentic, but the mark looks damaged. But judging the weight it is on the small size. Please reach me at ltp95002@gmail.com if you want further info.
