Back in mid December 2013 a Craigslist add for this AMF Mustang pedal pony caught my eye. 60 miles, 2 hours, and $100.00 later she was mine. As soon as I returned home I started researching where and how to restore the car back to it's original pristine condition. When found the car was in quite rough visual shape but fortunately no body rot. At some point in it's 50+ years it had been painted red with a brush and all of the accessories were missing. Within a few days I had found and met several very friendly collectors & parts venders on the internet that were very happy to help me along the way. A big thanks to Allen Wilson with Cowboys & Kidillacs who supplied all of my parts. Also a big thanks to C&M Powdercoat in Piedmont, SC for all of the paint work. During the tear down process I was able to reveal the original color after peeling off the front grill sticker and C&M was able to color match the original paint to a tee. I think for my first restoration this thing turned out better then I ever thought it would. That being said, I think I'm hooked and now I'm looking for my next project! - Mark / Anderson, SC
I never see anything that nice in pedal cars for $100. It is all rusty and starting at $150. Great find.
Thanks! I thought it was quite a good deal. The guy I bought it from actually had 13 of the AMF mustangs and has been collection them for years. This was the worse condition one he had and he was just trying to make a little room in his garage. He had an original one still in it's original box, mint condition.
Just for anyone else that may need this. I got all my bits from here. They were great!
