"T bar" clothing rack; was possibly for mercantile or commercial use
I'd be grateful to learn anything about this vintage clothing rack which I just love.
I bought it at an antique store about 25 years ago. It's a "T bar" style garment rack, about 65 inches tall, and can hold up two dozen hangers easily.
It has a lot of interesting details including 3 really nicely detailed claw feet on the base, metal vines and leaves as decoration from the base up the pole, and nice ball ends on the hanging bar.
It actually has a two part base for the bottom. The bottom part of the base is really heavy-- iron??? and it screws up into the upper part of the base which is the 3 claw feet.
The underside of the clawfooted section is hollowed out and there is a makers mark, but it is very hard it read. It seems to say "EKCO RI", but I can't be sure. There's also something that appears to read "PAT APP FOR" which I assume is indication that the patent have been filed for this rack, and the number "5".
I've attached pictures of the rack, and also of the makers mark, etc.
I really love this rack and have never seen another one like it. I've looked online for years with no luck.
