We found this oak rocker at moving sale in Arlington VA. It came out of the grarage were it was stored--acording to the owner--for at least 50 years. There were cables holding it together as all of the glue joints were loose --which is why in was sent to storage in the first place. it found its way to my basement for the past 10 years. i pulled it out and removed the cables and took it to a furnure repair shop to see how much it cost to fix. The advice they gave me was to retain the original finish and just reglue all the joints. When i picked it up, the stiles on the back had been rotated. I was told that thay were turned to make to union as tight as posable (makes sens). I've searched the Internet, but haven't come up with enough information to narrow down where it may have been made or its age or maker. There are no maker's marks on it. Thanks

It's a tipical spindle back rocker with a saddle seat. 1900 to 1920.

Crazy-Ike thanks for your reply. When you say typical have you seen another spindle back rocker with the spindles tapering wider at bottom than at the top ? So far we have been unable to find anything like it anywere. I hope to find who made these or at least what part of the country it came from. BigPete
