I think it's a humidor but not sure, I;m trying to identify either of the marks but didn't have any luck. I looked all over the net any help would be appreciated.
Any idea of who's mark this is? | ||

The silverplate mark is English.

A business established in Birmingham before 1864 as Grinsell & Bourne. When the partnership was dissolved (1871), John Grinsell started a new business with his sons (Thomas Bywater Grinsell, James Erazmus Grinsell, Lorenzo Grinsell and Joseph Charles Grinsell) as John Grinsell & Sons. In 1905c. the firm was converted to John Grinsell & Sons Ltd. Later the firm was puchased by Barker Ellis & Co Ltd.

The porcelain insert is a bit of a tease. There is some talk on the net that it might be Doulton but that is disputed.

I suspect the Grinsell firm had a manufacturer do the inserts for them and marked them with their mark Semper Paratus. It may well have been a company like Doulton.
