What a great piece ! It sure looks like he is advertising some kind of grip but his base look like maybe the store made it vs factory . How tall is he ? I am thinking a store used grips figure and gave him name Beaky because of the hat . Interesting I love it . How tall is he ?

16.25" tall painted composition figure on 7.75x7.75" plywood base. c. 1950s. Buttons on figure read "Grips." These were sneakers made by the Beacon Falls Rubber Footwear Co. of CT.

Not a shoe, I found a pair of children's shoes that work great.
      Tomorrow I send photos
      You're from that area?
