After such a long time sharing my collection here at CW I am surprised I never shared any item from DANSK DESIGNS as, even if I haven't got many of them, I'm very proud of them all.
This ice-bucket was bought in Miami where I lived in 2003 and 2004. I remember the joy I had to see it as I always wanted it ever since I first saw it at a friend's country house in 1998. It wasn't expensive at all so I couldn't help getting it. Even if I had to bring it with me to Madrid via Dublin -where I was lived for several months before definetly returning to Spain-. Unfortunately I broke the rubber liner as for the sake of safety I kept the Lindshammars teal kartio-like jug inside :(
The ice-bucket has become an absolute design icon. They say it's inspired by the hull in Viking vessels, but it always reminded me of the wooden buckets used at the sauna (a Norweigian freind gave me one -handmade by her grandfather- when I was a teenager).
One thing that surprises me about it is the Congo name everybody used to refer to it... I wonder if it was given by the same Quistgaard. As you can see on pic.4, at an add from I guess 1963 they don't mention that name at all. By the way, please do read the text on the add...

Unfortunately not, Amber, the stamp on the base is the normal typography one. I wish I could get the big one with the ducks, but it seems those are harder to get.
I also wish I could get the matching trays :( I won one on ebay once but the seller (from te US) didn't even send it. It's been the only bad ebay experience I've got. Well, there was another one with a Venini ashtray :'(
My furniture buddy has/had one. Not sure if its sold or not. Want me to check?
I am afraid I cannot afford it at the moment :( I wish!

I was checking some of my dansk designs wooden items I do have one with the ducks on the back !!! found it for a dollar last summer !!

Seriously, it's asmzing how many treasures you can buy so cheapy in the States, I wish the offer could be the same in Spain.
