I am not quite sure what this is either. My brother in law is from Germany and he said that it is a City in Germany, but other than that I'm not sure. Can anyone help me find out exactly what this is Please
Its a plaquette made by Zinn-Becker Stuttgart - it would have hung on the wall. You are missing the upper mounting hanger and the embossed leather strap that would be between. Decorative piece, probably pewter.
Wow, that's huge. Very beautiful details. I love it. I saved your posts for last all they're at the top of the feed :D hehe
Agh that was for you, the wrong post was opened from my phone. Oopsy
Thank y'all. I believe it's Pewter, but questioning what it was and whether its any sort of antique. My brother in law told me something about a city in Germany and he mentioned something about a City known for Wine, or maybe where you could drink wine. Anyone that can give me some more details, i'd truly appreciate it. I did know it supposably had a strap in it, just didn't know it was a leather strap, thanks
Neustadt an der Weinstraße is a town located in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The name means new city on the wine route, as it lies on the German wine route (Deutsche Weinstrasse) and is located in Rhineland-Palatinate, in Germany.
Thank you aghcollect. Is this piece a collection piece? approx what could be the age of it? I apologize for asking so many questions, etc. but would like as much info on it as possible
Purely a decorative piece - more than likely post-war. Zinn-Becker made lots of pewter shotglasses, goblets, steins, etc. - I used to have several different pewter goblets. I see two others of this plaque offered (one Hamburg, the other Stuttgart) priced at $50 but they are complete with the hanger and strap. -- Zinn-Becker GmbH is still in business at Calwer Straße 31, Stuttgart, Germany.
Thanks I'll have to see if i can get a hanger and strap from them, possibly.
