New Haven Barrell Case Clock.
This clock measures 6 inches high and 4 inches dia. The lid comes off and the movement is attached via a bayonet fitting through the front of the case. The 30 hour pin pallet movement has been overhauled and keeps perfect time. The dial is paper but has discolored due to age. It appears there used to be a fourth lower brass ring on the barrell case but it is now missing.
I would like any information anyone can give me on this unusual clock!
It looks like you have a model New Haven called their "No. 1011, No. 2". It originally had six brass hoops. It is illustrated in my Tran Duy Ly reference as having a small stand and being oriented horizontally instead of vertically as you have yours, although their "No. 1011" is shown standing on end so perhaps the stand was optional. They were from circa 1885 and originally retailed for $5.35 which would be about $137 in 2013. Hope that helps to solve your mystery. Thanks for sharing with us.
Hi Bruce
Thank you for your info, I was completely in the dark with this clock. You refer to the 'Tran Duy Ly' reference, could you please give me some details?
Regards Gary
Hi Gary,
You've very welcome. Just Google Tran Duy Ly and you'll get information about the author and his series of books on various clock makes and manufacturers. Welcome to Collectors Weekly. Hope to see you around.
Regards,
Bruce
Thanks, shall do.
