This was an unusual find from Salvation Army today. A wonderfully modeled and colored figure of a deer nestled in a meadow with wild flowers that measures 7" L x 4" H. Closer inspection of the underside leads me to believe this was a lid to a small tureen or covered dish. It has a shallow lip to it. It looks very old and I can only imagine how beautiful the whole piece must have been. The bottom was probably broken and they kept the lid as a figurine. It kind of looks like Staffordshire or majolica, but I really have no clue. The little unmarked silverplate oval tray was next to it and the deer fit perfectly within the border. Maybe it does go together and maybe it doesn't but it seems to work. -Mike-
