    Fentonia
    (8 items)

Here are some of my pieces of Fenton Hobnail Milkglass. All pieces are from different thrift stores except the huge bowl on top of the cake plate, which was found at a garage sale for one dollar, and the cake plate, which my mom gave to me when I first moved out on my own. It is a special piece to me, and I remember her using it in our first house years ago. My favorite pieces, besides the cake plate, are the cylindrical candy box with the butterfly top, the compote which is handpainted with peachy pink roses and tiny blue flowers, and the little bob-bon which must be older because its almost transparent at the rim.

I'd love to see some addition pictures. I always think these really make flowers, cake or whatnot really pop. My buddy collects the Fenton crest (silver, blue etc) so I am always on the lookout.

Thanks for the comment;) I plan on posting a lot more pics. Just started on this site and am already loving it! I read your profile, and your thrifting habits sound just like mine. Do you find a lot of Fenton near you? I seem to find a lot, but being in NE Ohio, only a few hours from most of the glass plants seems to make sense. I wonder if other areas of the country have as much.

I see some, more often the milk glass. Often the shoes and birds pop up.
I don't know if Fenton is prolific in all parts of the country. I know I see Haeger pottery everywhere and they don't as much out west.
Milk glass is making a big resurgence. Brides are searching it out for their DIY weddings...or should I say, Pinterest weddings :))

I really LOVE your collection. I have an true appreciation for Milk Glass made by anyone as long as it's unique : )

Thanks for the insight, AmberRose! Strangely enough, in all my treasure hunting, I have never happened across a Fenton bird, or even a butterfly, or any figurines at all. Even bells seem to be scarce. Shoes I see a lot, but are for some reason way overpriced in thrift shops. I don't know anything about the pottery you mentioned, but I do run into a fair amount of pottery. I think it may be time to learn:)

Hi Mackay1st! Thanks for your complement. One of my first loves is milk glass, but when I found some colored pieces, my attention kind of swayed to that. Regardless, I can't leave a decent piece for a bargain price behind, so the collection seems to grow without any concious thought, lol. I do have a really unique mystery powder jar I'm going to post a pic of soon. Maybe you or someone else here can help me!

I've only found one butterfly, which I promptly gave to another CWer.

Birds fairly often but they are usually painted and not quite my favorite. Although I will pick them up if they are sweet enough.
Post that powder jar! It's snowing and I have cabin fever!

AmberRose, that butterfly was stunning!!! Marilyn Wagner is one of the more well known painters, too. Okay, I'm going to journey down to the basement right now and get that powder jar. It's snowing here, too. Supposedly we're in for up to a foot by 5am.

AmberRose, I posted the powder jar, as well as this amazing vintage chair I bought recently. But, since I'm new at this site and mobile, I'm not sure how to link them here. But I'm sure you're savvy enough to find them through my profile.

This is a little more high class than my collection. I was into collecting the Brody floral vases for a while. My favorites are my two Westmoreland pieces. The swan dish and an ivy ball. Thrifts are full of the common stuff and it takes a bit more work to find the best pieces. Got away from it for now but if I see something really nice it gets me going again.

Thanks, Mike! I believe Brody and Napco are from my neck of the woods. I see those pieces by the dozens daily here in NE Ohio. I have to disagree about not finding good pieces at thrifts. I have found many uncommon pieces, though of course it doesn't happen every day. I have a couple Westmorelands too. Love that swan dish!!!

Yes Fentonia they're in my backyard as well. I'm about 30 miles from Cleveland where both these companies hail from.
    13. Fentonia Fentonia, 11 years ago
Mike, well hello there neighbor! I am in Wickliffe, about 20 minutes east of Cleveland.
    14. mikelv85 mikelv85, 11 years ago
Yes, I know Wickliffe well Fentonia I went to St Charles Borromeo for a time when I had more heavenly aspirations...lol I live in Elyria now.

Well to complete the Cleveland connection...I'm from Rocky River. Family still all there.
Fentonia, you must of put it in the air because I found a hobnail milk glass smaller basket today. Saw a milk/hob shoe too but passed on that one.
    16. Fentonia Fentonia, 11 years ago
Congrats on your basket, AmberRose! You should post it for us. I know Rocky River, actually had my graduation ceremony there at the sister school of the cosmetology school I went to. Small world! I'm maybe 45 minutes from there.

Totally know where you are! I visit River a couple times a year. Was just there in Dec.
Will post but it requires the cooperation of my, apparently needy kiddos.
