This was advertised as being a Strathearn paperweight, but I wonder ...
While the pattern resembles another Strathearn that we own, the flat bottom has me questioning its provenance. I have no idea whether Strathearn ever produced paperweights with ground bases. Indeed, the vast majority of our less-than-vast art glass paperweight collection have a pontil mark, although a few do have ground bottoms, including one from Caithness, another Scottish maker.
There are no signature canes, as far as I can tell, and no markings. The paperweight measures about 2 1/8 inches (5.5 cm) at the base.
Thanks for looking!
That is a very flat bottom isn't it. I am no expert, but I do have a couple that I bought thinking and hoping Murano, no, I was wrong although I love them so... I really hate to say this but it may be from China. That's where mine ended up being from. And the one I have looks like Millifore. (sp?)
I hope you find an answer but if I had it I'd just love it. Very nice.
Very Pretty. Not sure myself -- but for a Good Source of info ( and you may contact Alan Thornton there also in the UK ) for help on your Paperweight. He knows his stuff!
