I grew up in California so I don't know much about "wood burning" anything, but I found this beautiful (and very heavy) cast iron "insert" on one of my scavenger hunts, and I just know that it is a diamond in the "rust" (pun intended). What is it? I was thinking that it would be great sandblasted and used as an outdoor heater. But it would be an interesting piece indoors too.
Oh, if I weren't all thumbs, the possibilities would be endless.I don't know anything about it, and I admit that I am a bit intimidated by it which might explain why I haven't done anything with it yet. I feel like it must have been privy to a lot of really juicy, intimate conversations by the fire.
Rough measurements are a total front width of 37" and rear width of 28" X 25" height X 28" total depth with front skirt. The fire box measures at 25" X 15". Weight around 300 Lbs
With the double bi-fold doors, it looks like it was used as a fireplace insert.
for burning out side there ok for in side they always smoke you out and your wall will show it later ...tore one out of my camp and put in a real wood stove ..it was just like your but it was called an 1896. franklin ..or something like that ..good to burn tash in out side...lol ...good luck

It may be Franklin wood stove. I have one very close an similar to the one you have.

Not an insert. It is a reproduction of a Franklin stove. Aside from the dimensions the stack is made to connect to a flue and not for use with a fireplace damper. No matter where you use it make sure you check the gaskets for a tight fit.
