Another item I know nothing about! It is 16 inches tall and heavy. I could not find a makers mark but when you hold it to the light there is a wiggly mark about an inch tall that looks a little (only a tiny bit) like an upside down 5 with a big dash across the top.It really only shows when you hold it just right.

    Any ideas anybody?

    Thank you.

Thank you czechman. I am sorting Mums house out at the moment so I have so many unusual pieces that I just love. I will have to pop them on here one at a time. LOL.

Hi JayHow. I am already getting better. I have just identified a piece of Glit Island Pottery and a Haughton Fauna Ceramic piece. I have never had any experience before and want to learn a little. I like to show some of the pieces to others who may like to see them. I have just been given so much stuff! It is hard to research some things if you do not know where to start looking. I have googled every related word to the tall blue vase but cannot find anything similar or even anything on the hidden makers mark. I am not a collector, just had unknown collections passed to me.

Hi vintagefran. I have seen the one you have and they must have come from the same place! The base is almost identical. I will keep searching and will let you know if I come up with something. x

Thankyou JayHow. I did not know you could do that with Google. I will give it a go. I will keep a look out locally for anything similar as well. I think you are correct about the collecting bug! Its started................ LOL

Hi Elaine. Karen here. I am almost sure this lovely vase is Japanese or Italian but can't give more than that.
The clues to me are the shape of the foot, the slanted top edge, the colour and the internal white casing. But.... I am guesstimating here based on my knowledge which is not fallible!
Lots of this style of vase were made in the 70s all over the world and you may never find out exactly who made it but can still enjoy!

Thank you Karen. It does have a makers mark that you can only see if you turn the vase into the right light. It is a squiggle shape rather than letters. I have not been able to take a photo of it as you can only see it with the naked eye. I will have to try my little black light on it to see if that reveals it. Thanks again. x
