I found is the old doll head in my late grandparents belongings among other trinkets and am very curious to know its age, background and anything else about it. Great site, btw! Very helpful and friendly. THANK YOU!
She is missing her shoulder plate . Is called a "Low Brow China" doll and dates from 1890-30's . These were mass produced much longer than other types of china dolls . Made in Germany . China dolls are dated by hairdo and so named after hairdo also . Very early China's 1840 to 1860 are less common , some China dolls which is a glazed Porcelain are more rare and have inset glass eyes .elaborate hairdo's ect are sought after by collectors . Yours will make a nice cabinet display head or maybe you can create her a body . She has no real monetary value as she is broke and misssing body and original clothes all important , with that being said because she is so common all in one piece she still would not sell for much . Nice piece of history though :-)
Here is how head should look with shoulder plate .
