A Paddle from where? I don't know....Help

So I found this Item (old paddle) at a thrift store in Utah and have sent pictures of it to so many antique places and people and no one can tell me what it really is. So it's been a little frustrating. They all agree it is old and hand carved but that's about it, Oh and that it's not Maori. They don't know where it's from or anything like that. It's about 15" inches tall by 4" inches wide. I just reaaly like it and would love to know where it came from and learn more about what it is. PLEASE HELP
