My childhood lamp - a mystery

This is absolutely my favorite piece. It has been around my whole life. 60 years ago, before my birth, the neighbor was going to throw it out. My mom grabbed it. She was told the shade was made of seashells. There are
paintings on a few of the shells; ships, serpents, swords. I fear many have faded. It is HEAVY. About 25 pounds. Fabric wrapped cord. It stands 5 feet tall. I do not see any markings, but I must say I handle it as little as possible, for fear something will happen to it. It survived my raising three boys. It is the ONE PIECE I could never part with, but I have spent four
years going through her estate, and have never seen anything like it...and want to know who, what , where. Any information would be greatly enjoyed.
