(1 item)
I have bought an old house that I am remolding and I found this mounted on the wall. I've been told it's part of a phone system. I was wondering if anyone knew what is was and about when it was used. Their is not much at all on the history of my house. I'm hoping to get some kind of idea of when my house was built.
if ttom doesn't see this get on one of his items and ask him to look at it he is the master of telephones.
Lightning / surge protector
Agh is correct it is a lightning protector, for the phone line.
Mwitt, aghcollect is right on, It is a dual carbon/fuse protector made by Western Electric for the Bell System.
Does any one know about what years they used this???
I have read where the Western Electric 98-A protector goes back to 1915, some small changes have been made over the years. yours look like the from the 1930/1940's.
Thank all of you that have helped me!!!! You are the best!!!! Thanks again!!!!
