I purchased this trunk at a garage sale for five dollars. Although in very poor shape, I loved the exterior of it too much to pass up. The bottom was pretty much rotted out and the inside has some fire damage in it and is in pretty bad shape. My son in law has replaced the bottom for me but I am unsure if there is anyway to repair/cover up the fire damage. The outside tin is in pretty good shape. I love how ornate it is, as well as the hasps. Only the one back hinge is damaged. I am unsure of the era or maker, and would love any info. Thanks!
I would not consider this to be in poor condition but in fair to good condition given its age. It is a better quality trunk. Most have only one lock and yours has two. Plenty of hardware and decorative buttons as well. It looks to me like you got a terrific deal and an exciting project.
