I have had this old cuckoo clock for several years. It was giving to me by a friend. It works great. It is made by Schmechenbecher and the unique thing about this clock is that it take a D battery to rewind the mechanism. You can see the battery compartment in the one pic. Also on the back of the gong door are full instructions on how to set the time. It cuckoos loudly. It is amazing that all I have to do is change the battery once in a while and change the time during Daylight Savings. I have never seen another one like this. I suspect it dates around the late 60s or early 70s. I have never been able to find any information on it. Everything on the clock is original. It is rather large. Approximately 18 inches long and 10 inches wide.

      mcrane,
I have one of these that I am trying to repair. It belonged to my parents and had not been working for ??? years. I believe it had taken a fall from the wall, but no one admitted to it. I took it on as a challenge to repair. I had very little success finding anything like it or about it on the internet. I now have the clock running part time, but I still can't figure out how to adjust the lever arm that turns on the small electric motor to wind the mechanism. Just from the structure, it appears much like the 8-day Regula Schmeckenbecher model. I would love to see a few more photos of the mechanisms. When I get mine in better shape, I can post images if there is interest.
