Can anyone tell me around how old this chair is?
Your chair is Oak. Date's to about 1897, Could possibly be the work of Wisconsin Chair co. a couple Hundred Dollars.
Platform spring rocking Chair , The oak back rest looks a bit warped like it is not solid wood but a veneer ? Example do not use price just as a reference Some people come up with insane prices when they post .

The ebay price is Ridiculos. There were Numerous company's designing this type of chair. I simply suggested, Wisconsin Chair.
I agree ebay price is insane but using the photo to show similar and A.F. Schram was in Wisconsin and so I am I :-) Also the chair on ebay is higher quality . But they wanted to know what their chair was and the style has a name with the spring under it :-) I have no idea who made it . And the back of posters chair does not look like solid Oak it is a veener and buckled and has been altered by rollers and refinishing .
You are correct it is Veneer.
