This tea set is quite a rare thing. So far I have only seen just one Tango glassteapot on a picture.

Just like much of the Tango glass jugs, cups and stemware we've got, we're pretty unsure of which factory they come from. Most of them were bought because of how beautiful they were, not attending to the factory that manufactured them around a century ago, but now I'm cataloguing both collections -and that's a tough work- I have the urge to find out about these factories, so if you have any clues about these I's ve throrughlt thankful for your help!

Hope you enjoy them anyway ;)

      Thanks Sean, Vet and Fran!

There's also a red theme in our kitchen... sorry it can't possibly go ;)

Vet, do you think they can be Harrach? ;)
    4. vetraio50 vetraio50, 11 years ago
According to Jitka L. Harrach is a definite possibility.

      It is just so beautiful!
      Look at the spout!

      It will provoke some comment.

      Coral red!
      The wonders of selenium!

Austro when do your treasures cease! This set is absolutely stunning - the colour, contrast and form are perfect.

Well, there's still some treasures to come out... ;)

Thanks for your kind comment and your love!!! :D

Another possibility is Josef Riedel .. I just yesterday received a copy of Riedel 10 Generationen Glamacher . On page 131 is a Tango Tea Set , while not exactly the same is very close .. so that make at least 3 possible makers.

Hi Austrohungaro this is the only way I know to post a photo of the Riedel tango tea set.

      hope the link works

Thanks so much, Ozmarty! Yes, I definitely see that the spout and handles have a very simmilar shape to those in our set. But also those in this tea set from Harrach... http://www.glasscollector.net/Blog/glass-notes/harrach-tango-glass-yes/

So my guess is that is either Harrach or Riedel... or even a third factory. My second guess is that the Lötz option is almost dicarded.

@Jay, well, there is a lot of well known and documented Tango designs from Lötz, so the safest option is to look for them and hope for a nice price... sometimes it happens. From over 100 Tango pieces in our collection I think we can be sure that at least 75 of them are Lötz.

Thanks Jay, mikel and nordicman for your loves!!!

Next thought is did anyone actually use these tea sets ?
I imagine the hot water would make them crack ( in some circumstances ) .
Another thing to put on my forever growing shopping list!
    15. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 11 years ago
well... I guessed they did, that why so few of them have remained till today :) Knowing how grannies used to be in their younger days -at least in Spain- this could probably be the tea set behind the cabinet glass.

k, it goes to your shopping list but... will you ever use it? ;)
    16. ozmarty ozmarty, 11 years ago
Would not use it especially as I broke the spout on my favourite teapot (pottery ) the other day . Just brushed it on a glass jar not enough to normally do any damage but chipped a bit off .. still useing it

I have a set, but no coffee pot! But all of mine are marked with the Loetz oval mark.
I'll post it so you can see it.
