It really pays to get there right when a store opens because I managed to score some very nice pieces today, all from our fairly new Salvation Army Family Thrift Store. Things were just being put out and Christy just kept pointing to things and I kept buying...lol. First up This 12" "Firebird" figure by California Originals. It's done in an intense orange lava glaze with streaks of black and yellow. Still has it's original label too ! It matches a gondola console bowl I already have. Just need to find the other one and I'll have the set.

    California Originals:
Heirlooms of Tomorrow was founded in the 1940s by William Bailey. The pottery was first located in Manhattan Beach, but in the '50s was moved to Torrance, California and renamed California Originals. It is believed that California Originals closed their doors sometime around 1980. Their vases, ashtrays, lazy susans, bowls and serving trays were produced in great numbers, and are typically found in beautiful (often bright) colors accented with gold decoration.

We had a set of these at our house that sat on the buffet in the dinning room, there is another one that is more upright and straight. Thanks for the memory.

Your welcome rlwindle :) I hope I come across the other one eventually, I have a bowl as well and all three pieces would look incredible ! -Mike-

Thanks Ken :) It's crossed my mind a few times. We have a antiques store in Oberlin that rents to venders. I think at present there are seventeen in there now. Space does open up every so often, but I haven't been there since last Summer. I think that would be very nice. You really don't have to be there all day just set stuff up and when it sells they have one cashier for the whole place. I don't know what the rent would be but it has to be cheaper than a store front. I've been there and done that with my video game store I opened back 2007 which I do miss but the economy took me out by 2010. So the business bug is still there just a bit skeptical about it now.

Hi mikelv85. crazylamplady on eBay has one of these for sale right now if you’re still looking for one. It’s there until Saturday at 4pm.
