I believe this is an epergne horn. Blue (Mist?) satin opalescent horn. Carnival glass??

    Yep a single horn.
Yep, I have NO idea what I am going to do with it.
Yep, just thought it was pretty.
    Yep, ninety five cents!

I included the group shot because I believe they are all approximately the same age, and I thought the various blues were interesting. (3 out of 4 American with one Frenchy in there :))

Yep, I am losing my mind this winter...

A nice little menagerie of glass Amber. Especially the epergne flute. icollect is right, someone would love it if they needed to replace one. I would have bought it too !

the 'horn' appears to be a Diamond Glass Co. stretch glass automobile vase. Fent0n did make some similar epergne horns but this is a bit rarer. The candlestick looks like Northwood #657 but I'm not sure if Fenton may have also made it too.

TallCakes. Forgive me but I have never heard of an automobile vase. So it would sit in the car? I will start looking at that after work today.
You already IDed my favorite candle sticks!

As always your knowledge always impresses the heck outta me!

the horn/vase would be would be placed in a mount located either side of the seating of the car, usually on the upright between windows. I guess that it's easier to find the vases since the mounts were likely left in the cars when demolished. I forgot about that candlestick ID.
    14. TallCakes TallCakes, 11 years ago
someone should fashion you a fancy mount to put on the dash of your car so you can keep fresh flowers with you always! ; )

I would say stretch glass Epergne Lilly or horn judging by the base. It looks like its designed to fit in a glass base.
Car vases are usually mead to be held by the middle with some kind of metal ring or strap.

Wow, I never would have believed that. I guess the metal mount on the bottom is missing. Now, I stand corrected but I wonder if that piece was used for more that one purpose.

Well this is new to me too! Thank you both TCakes and NJ for the discussion and education. I had no idea!

I just saw one of these a few minutes ago in Jay Leno's 1909 Baker Electric car that were marketed to women, not sure that it is original to the car, but though it was timely.
      Second car at this link, you can see it though the front window;

You might have to go on a tour of barn & sheds with Packrat to find one of them.
Think of the fun you would have if you found one.

Maybe I'll sell it to Jay...take the big money I'd charge him (as he can afford it) and go find more treasure!
    25. walksoftly walksoftly, 11 years ago
Sounds like a good plan, besides the old car wouldn't have room for all the treasures that you would find!
