I would like to let you enjoy one of the most beautiful LOCKET PENDANT with chain I've seen in recent time. In the locket can placed two photos. On each side the same makers 'mark: M & S. (Mark of Markowitsch & Scheid 1862-1881, photo 4,)
This locket is made of an enameled picture of a lady who scatters flowers. At the back the French text: PORTE-BONHEUR (door of happiness). Both, the front and the back of the locket pendant is decorated in beautiful Niello patterns as the bail. The size of the locket is 6 x 3.5 cm incl bail.
The necklace is of very nice silver filigree links interspersed with 6 Niello links. The total length is 55 cm.

With the good suggestion (thanks again !) of our fellow collector Davyd286 and one day and a half of intensive tracking the data I have found the hallmarks of this necklace and pendant .
The author is Georg Adam Scheid who was born in Schönau, Baden, Württemberg, Germany on July 28, 1837. He started his apprenticeship in 1853 and operated afterwards in Pforzheim and Stuttgart. In 1858 he came to Vienna and entered the workshop of the gold , silver goods producer and jeweler Michael Markowitsch in Vienna - Austria . He married one of Markowitsch 's Daughters and in 1862 the company was renamed Markowitsch & Scheid and ADOPTED the mark M & S. It was located in Sandwirtgasse 8 , and then in Gumpendorfer Straße 83 Vienna .
The marks on photo number 4, M & S and what as I see as a dog's head and a 3 and moreover, I discovered some more marks on one of the little switches of the necklace which I can conclude that this Georg Adam Scheid was the maker and that this pendant was created in 1867 .

All in all a fantastic find that I have acquired according to my personal taste . Moreover, as almost all recruited by me jewelry !

It could be Markowitsch & Scheid (Vienna, Austria 1862-1881).

Wow! Sooo nice! It has all to be cherished.
A little precision, the text spells Porte-bonheur with the big B and the N in the O between PORT and HEUR!
You really don't need a "porte-bonheur" as you are so lucky allready ;-)
Data is a great help in identifying our treasures... Good job!

kyratango thanks for your helpful comment. I know the French expression Porte-Bonheur thanks to your comment I looked better at the back site of the locket and see that is indeed : Port-Bonheur. And yes, you are right I am lucky with all my treasures, but I know very well that is not the most important in life!

I don't know how I missed your post, but thanks for pointing it out. This indeed is an earlier example, in wonderful historismus, the quality is amazing! I think the M&S pieces are actually rarer than the G.A.S. ones. But all beautiful in any case :)
