I believe it is from either thailand or vietnam. Was told it is from the 1920's. Hand carved. the side of the long bench is the same as the chairs. Anybody know anything more about it?

Hi :) it's Vietnamese, apparently a little old man carved these beautiful lives of furniture in his hut, probably didn't his whole life. We have a table passed down through my mums family as decided tonight to research it. Found this website - http://www.furniturehandcarved.com/index.html
      Trying to find out more!

Wonderful set and a very entertaining link you posted. Looking at the link and reading it made it obvious the person has never been to Vietnam.

Neither have I, but I know that our table was brought back from Vietnam by my great grandmother and it's exactly the same (other than a few minor details) as the "coffee table" on their website.
What are your thoughts on these items fhrjz?

Difficult to say with the pictures but I will give some feedback. The web site struck me as a total farce that someone dreamed up. Obviously they have never been to Vietnam. No single piece of the furniture would fit in a workers hut as they called it. During the time period these were made Vietnam was under French rule. The French modernized and built factories etc. and also some beautiful homes. They built factories to mass produce this type furniture and did quite well. Touch up and some finish work was indeed done by hand. After the battle of Dien Bien Phu the French were gone and followed by Americans. For the most part American forces tried to preserve the industry and historical places. You seem to have a good history on your items but having it authenticated in writing would certainly add to the value. These certainly won't go down in value if cared for.
