Chinese carved vase with mark

I believe this vase is Chinese. It was given as a wedding gift in the 60's from the Consul General of China in Los Angeles to the daughter of the Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles. It is carved and appears to have a mark. That is the extent of what I know. I would appreciate any information about this type of vase as I haven't been able to find anything like it on the internet. Thank you.
