Similar to the other trunk I posted, I purchased this item a year ago in Oakland, California and I don't know anything about where it came from but I'd love to learn as much as possible.
This isn't in as good of condition as the other (http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/114039-vintage-barrel-trunk-with-illustration-i) but the original hardware is in place and some of the detailing on the inside of the lid is visible where there isn't paint.
Any information or pointers people can help me learn about this beautiful trunk is much appreciated, and also, would it be a bad idea to try and restore this? Looks like someone did a quick paint job on the inside, but I'd really love to learn more about this and clean it up - just afraid that doing so might be advised against.
