My sister gave me this toy to figure out what it was. It has no identification on it as to when or were it was made. The barrel rotates and it appears to be some form of cap gun. There are three barrels and the gun is intricate for a toy. It has an eagle head at the base of the handle and it has carved inlays in white (probably plastic). It is extremely heavy.

A copy of a three-barrel turnover pistol from Augsburg made during the 18th century. This hand-rotated flintlock weapon was the precursor of the later percussion pepperbox revolver.

This does'nt look like a toy to me, appears to have honest age and fine detail and craftmanship. I would def.want to have an expert in antique firearms have a look . Good luck, it's a beautiful looking piece.

I'm sure that if it was the real deal that it would have hallmarks, maker's marks etc. I also see some mold lines that shouldn't be there. It's still an impressive item. BOB

Good find T.A.! Can I ask how you can tell the original from the copy you showed, as that one looks newer?

The original was completely and meticulously made by hand. It was steel, ivory.

Visit museums, shows, exhibits, and read. You can train yourself to see what is and isn't there.

It is still worth $50-$100 or so. Replica pistols retail for about that. Not sure what price is in USD that is listed in TubeAmp's link.
